I’m posting this to let you know about an ongoing phishing scam involving my name, image, and business, Phantom Freelance.
Several clients have reported receiving fraudulent emails that appear to come from me and request payment for website renewals, maintenance, hosting, or related services. These emails are not legitimate.
The scammer is currently using the email address:
keryn.phantomfreelance.com@gmail.com
They have also tried to replicate my email signature, including my photo, business name, and branding, to make these messages appear authentic.
Please note:
- I send invoices and payment requests via my accounting software:
- My legitimate email addresses are:
- If you are a Codeable client all payments are made through the Codeable platform
- Any email requesting urgent payment from another address should be treated as suspicious!
The fraudulent emails typically mention things like:
- website renewals
- hosting fees
- maintenance updates
- domain renewals
- security or licensing costs
They often request payment of around (redacted) and attempt to create urgency.
If you receive one of these emails:
- Do not reply
- Do not click links or open attachments
- Do not send payment
- Forward the email to me at (email address redacted for this post – see newsletter) so I can document it
At this time, it appears the scammer may have collected information from public sources such as my website portfolio and publicly listed contact emails.
I take your trust and security seriously and am actively monitoring the situation.
Thank you to everyone who has already reached out to verify suspicious messages. If you ever receive a payment request or anything that feels unusual, please contact me directly before taking action.
Thank you for your continued trust and support.
If you have any questions or concerns about the above changes or would like to request an updated contract for your services, please feel free to contact me at any time.
